From the poplar in Petrizzi you follow the white and red waymarks down to the church of Santa Maria della Provvidenza by an old stone bridge, then along the Beltrame stream on paths between dry-stone walls and wheat fields. The old railway line from Soverato to Chiaravalle takes you to the stone station house of San Vito sullo Ionio, with its mother church and old silk mill. A 400 m climb brings you to the Lago Acero rest area, then a great beech forest to the ridge of Monte Coppari, the highest point of the walk, with its snow pits and the legendary Pietra della Fata. You drop past the Pozzetti spring to Monterosso Calabro, with views over Lake Angitola and the Tyrrhenian Sea. About 24 km.
