You pass the dunes of the white broom, grey sand up to 20 m high where the rare plant flowers in spring. A gentle climb takes you through the Bosco di Gatta, on a track cut between the trees, where you may meet foxes, badgers and porcupines. Crucoli, the little mountain, has old proverbs in Calabrian dialect on its walls and a wide view over the Ionian.
