About
The Cammino della Santa Spina follows the route of the Calvary procession of Petilia Policastro, in the province of Crotone. You start at the Church of San Francesco di Paola, pass the town's churches and the Paternise quarter, then leave the houses at Grofficelle and drop down an old drove road into the Soleo valley.
A stone bridge on two granite piers takes you across the river, and the path climbs back with steps to the Sanctuary of the Holy Thorn, a Franciscan convent since 1320 that has kept a thorn from the crown of Christ since 1523. About 4 km, lined with the shrines of the Via Crucis.
