10 km from Bivongi to Monte Stella (Pazzano). Along the Stilaro past old mills, a track takes you to Stilo: the Madonna delle Grazie, San Domenico, Porta Stefanina and the Cattolica, small and extraordinary, plus the birthplace of Tommaso Campanella. Then on to Pazzano, the iron mining village, and through holm oaks to the hermitage of Santa Maria della Stella, a cave with a 10th century fresco. Best from April to November.
