Leaving Bitetto's Romanesque cathedral, the stage crosses olive groves, old farmhouses and fields lined with dry stone walls and trulli across the Bari plain. The path climbs gently towards the Murge plateau past the Foresta Mercadante. It ends in the historic center of Cassano delle Murge, near the Santuario di Santa Maria degli Angeli.
